September Afternoons with Disney Junior

September means the start of school – at least it does here where I live – and this was a big year for us since my son started kindergarten. The school transition hasn’t been the smoothest, lots of tired eyes in the morning (including mine), but everyone (including me) is finally settling into our new routine. Phew!

September – even if it does include alarm clocks and early mornings – is one of my favourite months of the year. The air is turning crisp and fresh, and the afternoon light is amazing for outdoor photography.

Disney JuniorMy kids and I are spending as much time as we can outside this month, however one routine that we still keep, even with all of the changes around here, is our afternoon TV session. It’s a time of day were everyone is ready to settle in and relax a bit with our favourite channel, Disney Junior.

Ever since my kids have been very small (even smaller than they are now) we have saved our together TV time for the afternoon. My kids are at their cuddliest, and are ready for some quiet time. One of our favourite Disney Junior shows is still Jake and the Neverland Pirates. If your kids haven’t seen the show yet, you won’t regret introducing them to it. It’s one of my favourite kids shows too…plus there’s a girl pirate too – Izzy.

Jake-Neverland-PiratesIzzy’s Adventure Week

This week, from September 19 to 23, it’s Izzy’s Adventure Week on Disney Junior. My daughter’s favourite pirate, Izzy, is getting her feature on Jake and the Neverland Pirates this week starting at 5pm ET. It’s the perfect opportunity to catch the show, and maybe give your kids some costume ideas for Halloween as well.

Play the Games

If your little one is a fan of Disney Junior, they’re sure to love all of the free and fun online games at Disney Junior. My four-year-old son’s favourite games are all Jake and the Neverland Pirates themed, of course, but there are games for most of the popular shows on the channel including: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Handy Manny, Special Agent Oso, Stella and Sam, and more. Give it a try!

Disclosure: I’m part of the Disney Junior Mom program and I receive special perks as part of my affiliation with this group. The opinions on this blog are my own.
