We eat tacos – or fajitas – every week here at Chez A Lot of Loves. We love tacos because everyone can pick and choose the type of fixings that they like.
Picking fixings, means happy kids and happy kids means happy dinner!
I also like the versatility of tacos. I can switch up the meat for example. My kids prefer lean ground beef, but I also use ground turkey, sliced chicken breast, or shredded pork as well.
As for toppings…well…skies the limit: lettuce, shredded cheeses, tomatoes, salsa, avocado, diced cucumber (trust me), or diced chilies.
Tonight I cooked my our standard no-fuss taco meal using the newly improved softer flour tortilla shells from Old El Paso. The kids gobbled their tortillas into funny animal shapes and after playing with their food for a few minutes, they ate up their animals too. Proof that they taste great!
I decided to try out Old El Paso’s Smart Fiesta Taco Seasoning which contains 40% less sodium than the regular seasoning. None of us missed the salt. In fact I think this is the seasoning to go with from now on – it’s nicely spiced and the kids liked it.
Again, happy kids equals a happy dinner!

every time i ask the jb what he wants for dinner, 7 times out of 10 it’s tacos. and the hubby LOVES refried beans. his trick: soft shell spread with refried beans, then stick that to a hard shell and fill the hard shell up. yeah, he’s not a calorie counter!
